 | DESIGN, SUPERSTUDIO MAXI

One month after Design Week and the Fuorisalone, which involved Superstudio across its three venues in different ways, reflection turns to its most sophisticated and innovative project - one that runs counter to the spectacularisation, noise and surprise of the most eye-catching setups seen in Milan.

Giulio Cappellini, curator of SuperCity at Superstudio Maxi, worked through subtraction and understatement, removing the superfluous - lights, logos, sounds, add-ons, special effects - simply suggesting an urban environment to enhance the most compelling objects of contemporary Italian design and iconic classics. He transformed the venue into an ideal city where art and design merge into an urban system of relationships and pathways. The essential installation reduces physical structure to make room for the visitor’s experience, suggesting a way of exhibiting that leaves space for imagination.

 | PHOTOGRAPHY, SUPERSTUDIO PHOTO AWARD

Giulia Sidoli, the student from Atelier Smedsby in Paris who won the first Superstudio Photo Award — and who was recently awarded by the public at MIA Photo Fair — is now ready to claim her “trophy.” Not the usual plaque or statuette, but a professional photography production experience with the support of all the professionals needed for a shoot at Superstudio 13, once again proving itself a breeding ground for new talent.

The activities of the first edition of the Superstudio Photo Award are now fully underway with the production of the shoot for the winner, Giulia Sidoli, the young photographer selected by the public during the latest edition of MIA Photo Fair.
